[Finished Bottle Review]
"The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon DLCV Oakville is a stunning Cabernet Sauvignon, showing notes of praphite, vanillin, copious quantities of blackberry and cassis, licorice, a full-bodied mouthfeel, great structure and intensity, plus a long, long finish. Only 300 bottles, or one barrel, were produced of this wine that was a dedication cuvee to [Kirk Venge's]* Mother. In all likelihood, this is a 50-year wine."

*Please note: In his December #222 issue, Robert Parker mistakenly published some of Kirk Venge's wines as still being produced by his father, Nils Venge, which is materially innacurate, including DLCV Cabernet Sauvignon. We have requested a retraction and a correction from the publication. See Our Roots noting the sale of Venge Vineyards to Kirk Venge in 2008.

[Tasted As Barrel Sample, October 2014]
"Aged 36 moths in 100% new French oak, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon DLCV is spectacular in both quality and price. It boasts an inky/blue/purple color as well as a smorgasbord of aromas, including blueberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, graphite, toast and flowers. Full-bodied, super-rich and dense, it possesses unbelievable upside and potential. It will need 4-5 years of bottle age and should age effortlessly for 3-4 decades. It is the quintessence of Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley."
